Who Knew?

What I have learned from the media today is that mandating people without health insurance to buy crappy, expensive private insurance or risk having the IRS audit them and paying for the program with a 40% excise tax on people with employer-provided health care are the greatest things to happen in Washington since the Civil Rights Act.

I guess Great Leader really does walk on water.

  1. It's outrageous . . . hopefullly will be deemed unconstitutional by the Supremes two years down the road .

  2. I am outraged at this obvious "piece of the action" conjured up just for the edification and greed of the still-controlling-the-dynamic insurance companies. This part of the law, besides the excise tax, is the most objectionable feature. How does the federal government MANDATE a private transaction? I hope when the Supreme Court gets this case that they rule on behalf of democracy, not corporate fascism.

  3. Ms. Tsouris, that is a great question you ask: "How does the federal government MANDATE a private transaction?"

When the gov't is owned by the corporations, I guess they can get away with mandating anything they want.

It is really disheartening that it is Dems who brought us this piece of shit law. I don't see the difference between this thing and Bush' Medicare drug law. They're are some goodies, sure, but the overall benefit is for the corporations.

As for the Supremes overturning this, i doubt it. They're pretty corporation friendly. And this law looks pretty corporation friendly to me.
