Questions About The Klein Resignation

I guess you have already heard, Uncle Joel Klein resigned as NYC schools chancellor today.

He was replaced with some other corporate suit with no education experience who brought us all those wonder pie charts and pretty pictures at USA Today.

Strange day.

Now I have some questions about this:

Why the sudden resignation?

If Klein wanted out, why didn't he leave in January when Bloomberg started his third term? Or in June?

Is Klein sick? Can Klein even GET sick? I just assume vampires like Klein live forever and have to be killed with a stake through the heart and buried in four English crossroads before you can be sure they're dead. But maybe he got some medical news that forced him out of public service and into wingnut welfare at FOX News?

What now on the TDR releases? Does the new corporate suit release the data and names anyway or make nice with union and get some other concessions in return?

What about the contract? Does this mean a settlement is nigh and some groovy union concessions are coming for all the Rheeformers to crow about?

Will an actual living, breathing educator ever be named chancellor in NYC again?

How come Bloomberg didn't name Rhee to replace Klein? Wouldn't that have been a feather in his ed Rheeform cap?

These are my initial thoughts, having just heard the news about twenty minutes ago.

I'll have more on this later.
