Bloomberg: Cathie Black Just Wants To Make The World A Better Place

Still defending her media silence, here is how Bloomberg described Cathie Black at a press conference yesterday:

She’s still working for the Hearst Corporation. She doesn’t start here until January 2nd. I don’t know what you want her to do. She has a job to do and she’s as hard working as anybody you’ve ever met. The Hearst stockholders I guess deserve a pay. I’m pleased that Frank Bennack has been giving her some time to do some visits and to spend some time. She’s gonna hit the ground running as much as any new Chancellor possibly can. She is absolutely the right woman for this job. I’ve just watched her over the last four weeks. This is somebody who really wants to dedicate her life to making the world a better place and the people that criticize her, you know, she’s giving up a very lucrative career with a lot of perks to come to work and work in a bullpen 24/7. Hopefully she understands that’s what the job is and she’s, as I said to her, ‘Welcome to the NFL.’ She’s the right person and … she’s been trying to meet with as many people as she can but, you know, when she takes the job on January 2nd then she’ll set her own schedule and decide how she’s going to spend her time, running around with photo ops or trying to do some productive work."

But people don’t know her positions on major educational issues.

Bloomberg: "They probably don’t. What was your question again? She doesn’t work for the city yet."

She just wants to make the world a better place.

Hey, you know what?

I think I do remember her now from before her job at Hearst and Oprah Magazine.

She sang a part in We Are The World.

If I remember correctly, she was standing right between Tina Turner and Kenny Rogers.

They wanted to make the world a better place too!

How exciting!

  4. I know someone who is a social worker and yeah, Bloomberg is doing to them what he is doing to teachers too.

Unfortunately, he still has a 55% approval rating in NYC. Until that gets below 50% and into the Obama/Bush range, it's hard to combat him. The problem is, most NYers don't have to deal with him the way we do!
