The old right-left dichotomy in politics doesn't hold in education.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Governor Christie is "reaching across the aisle" to pick former Edison Schools chief and former deputy NYC chancellor Chris Cerf to be New Jersey's new education commissioner.
But what's so out of the box about Christie picking Chris Cerf?
They both hate teachers and are in favor of public school privatization, merit pay, standardized tests at every level of school, tying teacher evals to test scores, busting the teachers unions, ending tenure, seniority and other job protections for teachers and turning the school system into a little fiefdom for their corporate cronies.
Who cares if there is a "D" or an "R" after the name when the policies are the same?
