GOP Congressman Lets It All Hang Out
His name is Christopher Lee (yes, like the actor who played in the Hammer films), he WAS a congressman from upstate NY who just resigned moments ago after the above photo surfaced on Gawker and he JUST MIGHT BE available now that his wife knows he was trolling the Internets for sex.
In all seriousness, what would make a man in public office who has to run every two years for re-election send that kind of photo to some stranger he met on Craigslist?
Interestingly enough, he seemed to care very much about this very issue - creepy people sending creepy things via the Internets - as it relates to children and schools.
Then he sent something creepy to somebody on the Internets.
Oh, well - good luck in the future, Congressman.
Good to see Family Values Republicans involved in another scandal.
Frankly they don't seem to be learning the lesson we all learned from David Vitter, the Family Values GOPer who regularly dressed up in a diaper to visit prostitutes and relieve a little, uh, tension.
He was exposed in public, but Vitter never admitted to anything, wouldn't talk about it, and just hung in their until he got re-elected.
For that matter, Governor Paterson here in NY did the same thing even though he was caught trying to talk a woman who had been beaten by his chief aide out of filing charges.
You see, the lesson for us all is ADMIT NOTHING, GO UNDERGROUND and RE-EMERGE AFTER ANOTHER BIG STORY HITS THE WIRES.
Americans, after all, have very short attention spans.
Haven't heard him carry on about 'family values' but don't let that stand in the way of your story. As a matter of fact haven't heard much about 'family values' from either Democrats or Republicans since the 1990's. Doesn't quite hit the Barney Frank (Democrat-MA) or Teddy Kennedy (Democrat - MA)or Eric "Tickle Me" Massa (Democrat - NY)or John Edwards (Democrat - SC) or Bill Clinton (Democrat - Arkansas) or Elliott Spitzer (Democrat - NY) standard. For a laugh and to put this issue in perspective, read what Barney was up to in Washington D.C. during his scandal (and no, those are not misprints): http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/tours/scandal/gobie2.htm
ReplyDeleteAh yes - going all the way back to the 60's for the Ted Kennedy scandal and the 80's for the Barney Frank scandal.
ReplyDeleteLet me list GOP sex scandals from the last four years - just the prominent ones:
Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Mark Sanford, David Vitter, Ted Haggard, the NRCC using an S&M club for fundraising activities in 2010, John Ensign, Vito Fosella, Jim Gibbons?
More listed here:

Please, when it comes to sex scandals and hypocrisy, the Republican Party has no equal.
And if you followed this blog at all, you'd KNOW I hammer crooked Dems as much or MORE than Repubs. Because I expect better - but when it comes to the hypocrisy of a creep like Lee - opposed to gay marriage on moral grounds - well, no, sorry, just won't let that pass.

ReplyDeleteDid you stop reading my list after Barney Frank and Teddy Kennedy? I started with those two because Barney's improprieties were jaw dropping (for starters Barney's male prostitute boyfriend used Barney's apartment for his, ahem, adventures ...and then it gets worse) and the married Teddy actually killed someone after leaving a party with her. In both cases they escaped justice. Massa (the tickler) was six months ago and Edwards' scandal is practically ongoing. No party is immune to scandal but Barney and Teddy probably take the cake.

ReplyDeleteHere's a quote from the previously bookmarked Washington Post's account of the Barney Frank debacle:
" Although Frank and Gobie differ in some details of their relationship, they agree on the story line. They met on April Fool's Day 1985. The representative answered a classified ad in the Washington Blade, the local gay weekly. "Exceptionally good-looking, personable, muscular athlete is available. Hot bottom plus large endowment equals a good time." "
Does it get any better than this..scandal wise? The mathematical equation in the ad is a bit odd but I must say...Dems win, Dems win, Dems win!!
Barney Frank is, by the way, still a proudly serving Democrat in the House of Representatives.
