Bloomberg Administration Accused Of Conflict Of Interest In Choice Of "Taxi of Tomorrow"

What do you know? Another Bloomberg scandal:

Some politicians are already saying hail no to the city's pick for the "Taxi of Tomorrow."

The city announced Tuesday that it had selected Japanese automaker Nissan to produce the "Taxi of Tomorrow" after submitting a bid based on its NV200 minivan design, as first reported by the Daily News.

But Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Assemblyman Micah Kellner and Public Advocate Bill DiBlasio already called on city Controller John Liu to investigate the selection process, alleging a possible conflict of interest.

A TLC consultant on "Taxi of Tomorrow," automotive design and engineering company Ricardo also has done business with Nissan and Ford, the officials say.

Kellner also blasted the design for not being 100 % handicap accessible - and for looking old-fashioned.

"Who knew that the 'Taxi of Tomorrow' was the delivery van of yesterday?" Kellner said. "Just because you paint a van yellow doesn't make it a taxi."

The letter sent to Comptroller Liu over the potential conflict of interest is here.

Liu is really busy these days looking into all the crookedness that is the Bloomberg administration.

He's auditing the iZone contract with Wireless Generation, the ARIS contract, various other DOE contracts, any contract involving IBM or Verizon - two major city vendors who helped former DOE computer consultant Willard Lanham steal $3.6 million from the city.

And now the Taxi of Tomorrow selection process.

Just how many potential Bloomberg scandals can there be?

You know, after nine years of NOBODY holding Bloomberg or Bloomberg officials accountable for ANYTHING, there are a LOT of potential Bloomberg scandals.

  1. And I hope these scandals keep coming to light, too! I'd like to see Bloombucks brought to his knees.
