New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he never tried to discourage Olympic champion Carl Lewis out of running for a state Senate seat.
But Christie says Lewis may be "too sensitive" to run.
Lewis says Christie threatened to cut an athletic program Lewis had wanted to start if Lewis ran against incumbent Republican Sen. Dawn Marie Addiego.
During an interview on New York radio station Monday, Christie said he told Lewis that he couldn't move forward on the program if the Democrat ran against Christie's longtime friend.
Christie says he also made it clear he would campaign hard against Lewis if he did run.
The governor called Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno's decision to keep Lewis off the ballot "a solid choice."
Lewis has appealed the decision in federal court.
Is Christie lying about threatening Lewis?
I bet he is.
His former education commissioner, Bret Schundler, has already said Christie lied about the Race to the Top fiasco.
Christie loves to bully people and use threats to get his way.
Just own up to the threat, governor.
You told Lewis you'd defund his athletic program for children.
Its always about the kids with you, isn't it?
This slob should be taken to task by the unions in N.J. I understand that adds are running slamming him as several of his top advisors are worth millions and he is worth 3.8 million, yet, he is so against the millionaire tax. This fat jerk needs to be voted out by the workers and their families of the garden state!
ReplyDeleteChristie is doing what has to be done in this state. We don't need another program!
