NYSED Announces High Level "Test Security Unit"

When did the New York State Education Department start to paramilitarize?

NYSED announces that creation of a high level "Test Security Unit" staffed with experiences investigators to conduct their own probes.

Will this be anything like Arne Duncan's high security team?

You know, there's nothing more important in this world than test security.

Except for the last fifteen years that Merryl Tisch was sitting on the Regents board as the NYSED was watering down tests and rubrics while inflating scores.

When the onus and responsibility of scores was on institutions and politicians rather than individual teachers, they weren't so worried about test security at the NYSED or the Regents offices.

But now that individual teacher evaluations will be based upon test scores - oh, yeah, we need a special "test security unit" to insure the integrity of the system.

Uh, huh.

If they want to check the integrity of the system, they ought to start with the error-riddled value-added measurements they're using on the teacher evaluations.

But that would be too much trouble.

Instead they're going to hire Halliburton goons to work test security - Arne Duncan-style!
