Woke up very early this morning to get to work today.
Took almost two hours for a trip that usually takes twenty or so minutes.
Froze on the line to buy ferry tickets.
Froze again on the line to get on the ferry.
Froze on the ferry.
Froze on the way to work.
Froze at school because the heat is out.
Took the train downtown to get the ferry, felt warm for the first time all day on the subway.
Froze walking from the subway to the ferry terminal.
Froze waiting for the ferry.
No room on the bottom, stood on the open air top and froze on the way back to Jersey.
Froze on the walk back home.
It's been a cold, cold day.
But at least I have a home to come back to, one with heat and light and hot water.
For that, I'm grateful.
So many are without tonight.
