Mulgrew And The Mayoral Candidates

Sure, the candidates are saying things teachers want to hear.

But you can bet your pension that these guys - you know, the ones with the suitcases full of campaign cash to hand out - will have a lot to say about education policies in the next administration, no matter what the candidates are saying now.

Not to mention that Bloomberg plans to use his PAC money to bludgeon teachers here too and much of the destruction of the school system is emanating from Albany and Washington these days anyway.

So Mulgrew and the UFT can play the strategy like it doesn't matter what happens with Commissioner King and the evaluation system now, that they'll fix everything when the next mayor comes into office.

The truth is, the hedge fundies and Wall Street criminals will still be calling many of the shots on education policy, closures, evaluations and the like.
