I Really Like John Liu

Liu campaigning today.

They destroyed him with the campaign finance fraud investigation even as Michael Bloomberg, who handed over millions in bribes to the Independence Party for three straight election cycles, remains free and unsullied.

Liu's a labor-friendly guy and he wasn't cowed by Bloomberg.

It wasn't a mistake they destroyed him.

They can work with any of the other candidates in the race.

They weren't so sure about Liu.

So they stuck a shiv in him.

I ask again, how did Bloomberg get away with the bribery that put him on the Independence Party ballot for three straight cycles while Liu has been destroyed over the penny ante charges brought against his campaign people?

  1. I like Liu too. He's my favorite. What I don't like is his failure to move anywhere in the polling, and I've seen no evidence his energy is changing that.

    1. I would agree.Plus the powers that be are REALLY scared of him, so they'll do everything in their power to stop him. Indeed, they already have. De Blasio they know they can work with (remember after the last election when Liu refused to break bread with Bloomberg but de Blasio did?) Liu they know they cannot.

  2. We know the UFT "just wants a seat at the table", thus the mamby-pamby, wishy-washy endorsement, but where are the police and firefighter endorsements? No one has messed with them yet.

It's too bad the unions are so split on their endorsements. A friendliest to unions Liu endorsement by many would have been the most working/middle class successful.

    1. The unions all have their own agendas. Or perhaps I should say, the union leaderships all have their own agendas. And so we have all these splits with the union endorsements.

  3. I'll tell you why.The xenophobia of the remai.ing white population ( and politicsl establishment) of Queens, who are deathly afraid of what the "i.vading Asian hordes" ard doin to their hometown -" Why,you can't even find a sign in English in Flushing anymore." They'd rather vote for a corrupt buffoon like Halloran or an arrogant thieving petty dictator like Doomturd because they are like "us" than for" one of them".You can thank small town Queens politics and the absolute catamite position of NY law enforcement (esp you,Preet) towards the billionaire lame schmuck for our seeming inability to do thdoe right thing for NYC.

    1. I do think the powers that be purposely destroyed Liu. Let's be honest, whatever campaign finance irregularities his campaign may have been involved in is small potatoes compared to Bloomberg's bribery of the Independence Party officials for three straight cycles. But Liu has been tarnished and Bloomberg remains an upstanding individual - what a joke!

Halloran is a criminal. I look forward to the day they march him into prison.

    1. I think they want Weiner - the reporters seem to be providing him with very good press. They keep writing about how great he is on the campaign trail. But they refuse to look into the past - including the sexting with the 17 year old - that could (and I think would) turn people against him.

  6. If everyone would stop reading he polls and just vote and work for Liu, maybe he could win.

    1. You underestimate the damage that the mocking Liu takes from the DN and the Post, coupled with the "reporting" the Times has done on him, has done to him.

He has very high negatives - only Weiner has higher. I think in a majority Asian district in a localized race he can win. He cannot win citywide, however. Not after the bogus campaign finance fraud case they leveled on him.
