Startling Statistics From The Common Core Tests

From the NY Times:

On the English exam, 3 percent of nonnative speakers were deemed proficient, and 6 percent of students with disabilities passed.

Essentially, if you are an ESL student or a student with an IEP, you will not pass the Common Core exams.

Can't wait until they change the high school Regents exams.

As things stand now, we've already seen some support services students forced to sit for some exams four times.

Soon, every support services students will sit for the exam over and over and over until they max out of the system without graduating.

Because as the rules stand now, students must pass five Regents exams with a 65 or higher to graduate.

If the 3rd-8th grade math and ELA exams are any indication of what will be done to the high school Regents exams, graduation rates around the state will plummet.

  1. Very true. On average a typical self contained student on the high school level is YEARS behind appropriate grade level - YEARS!

    1. Former NYSED Commissioner and Pearson booster David Steiner says the high school exams are next.

If they do the Regents exams what they did to the ELA and math 3rd-8th grade exams, it is going to wreak havoc for ELL and support service students. They will never graduate.
