More Andrew Cuomo Corruption News From Albany

From the Daily News:

A law firm hired by the state Assembly to deal with Gov. Cuomo's anti-corruption commission is a big-time donor to Cuomo and commission co-chair Kathleen Rice, the Daily News has learned.

The News reported Monday that Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver hired Kasowitz,  Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP to represent the chamber during the commission probe into public corruption.

Since 2010, the firm, its managing partner, Marc Kasowitz, and his wife, Lori,  gave a combined $373,000 to Cuomo and Rice, the Nassau County district attorney, state campaign finance records show.

The $200,000 the firm has given Cuomo since he took office in 2011 makes it his second largest donor during that time, according to New York Public Interest Research Group research coordinator Bill Mahoney.

All told, Cuomo received $275,000 from the firm and Kasowitz since 2010.

Rice got a combined $98,000 from the firm, Kasowtiz, and his wife during that same period.

Neither Silver nor the Assembly Democrats received any money from the firm or Kasowitz.

At least two Albany sources suggested Silver’s hiring of a firm with ties to both Cuomo, who created the commission, and one of the panel’s three co-chairs was no coincidence.

“Nothing ever happens in Albany by accident,” one said.

Let's review the Cuomo corruption news:

Overseas gambling interests paid Cuomo's PAC off in the same month he expanded gambling in the state, Cuomo took in hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from real estate developers he handed $35 million in tax breaks to, Cuomo shut down his Committee To Save New York PAC so that he didn't have to reveal his donors, and now the news that Cuomo's second largest donor somehow got hired to wok with his Moreland Corruption Commission.

And that's just the stuff we know about.

Remember, Cuomo won't reveal who else donated to him via CSNY.

Looks like Sheriff Andy Cuomo needs his own corruption commission to investigate the Cuomo administration.

    1. How about Alan Hevesi? As soon as he gets out of jail? Or Joe Bruno? So long as he doesn't go to jail...
