Michael Mulgrew And Leo Casey Just Like The Fonz

Mikey and Leo now criticizing the teacher evaluation system they helped develop and defend against criticism from Carol Burris and Diane Ravitch.

Mikey and Leo are criticizing the system for some of the very reasons Burris and Ravitch criticized it in the past.

But Mikey and Leo never admit they were wrong to help develop this system or defend it, of course.

That would be going to far.

They cannot admit they were wr- wr- wr- wro-wrong...

    1. That's the best crystallization of the UFT leadership you can do - succinct and true.

  2. Michael is right. And soon you can add Common Core to the list. Meanwhile, does anyone know if it's legal to have to write up new lesson plans based on the CC format? Teachers are questioning this, but as yet no response...

    1. Have no idea why the words are separated. Did not write it that way.

    2. That kind of requirement is outside the contract. Even though Mulgrew endorsed the Advance program before he realied it was toxic, doesn't mean that they UFT is not on an aggressive campaign against these rampant instances of dictated lesson plan formats.

    3. The cynic in me thinks Mulgrew, Casey and Company knew it was toxic before they signed on, but they did so out of expediency. Now that the toxicity is apparent to everybody, now they take a stand. But as usual, they're just full of crap.

    4. Geo,
Lesson planning is a big part of our current contract and these mandates fall outside it. Mulgrew is not on any aggressive campaign because one phone call from him, and this would stop!!

    5. The UFT currently has several union initiated grievances involving lesson planning and excessive paperwork. Teacher, nationally, have been enduring an all out frontal attack and it is little different here in NYC.

  3. Wasn't it the other hack, Peter Goodman, who wrote that piece???

    1. No, Leo attacked Burris and Ravitch at Ed Wize. Some jive called "Setting The Record Straight..."

    2. I think Goodman had a piece on his own blog???

Geo is wrong about the contract because these new requirements are in violation.

    3. I think you're right, that the lesson plan stuff does fall into a contract violation. But the UFT hasn't fought very hard to stop it, so we're all getting attacked for not having Danielson framework lesson plans that take two hours to create for each class per day.

  4. PointOfViewLet's remember that the new teacher evaluation system is law. Michael Mulgrew did not help to develop it in its current form. An arbitrator chose certain aspects from both sides and applied it to make it a whole.  Make no mistake about how we got here in the first place. Check your history.
