Is Shael Polakow-Suransky Staying On At Tweed?

Buried in Eliza Shapiro's Capital NY article about Carmen Farina's first workday as NYCDOE schools chancellor is this:

Asked about whether the D.O.E's chief academic officer, Shael Polakow-Suransky, will stay on, FariƱa said "no personnel decisions have been made yet."

This wasn't the only polite answer she gave.

When asked about charters, Shapiro reported that Farina said that "the department will have a 'protocol' for charter schools' role in the system soon."

Political responses on the first day at work, which totally makes sense - no reason to upset any apple carts on Day One.

And with Farina appointed so late to the chancellor position, I can see where she wouldn't want to clean house at Tweed right away.

Nonetheless, if Polakow-Suransky isn't gone from Tweed by the end of the school year, we have a problem.

  1. Polakow - Suransky is the genius behind the evaluation system known as "RETARD".. Once the DOE makes real progress out of its Orwellian doublespeak dystopia, Polakow - Suransky will be excessed because of his redundant name and brainless allegiance to the Klein/Bloomberg "Reign of Error".. He will then be engaged in doing what he does best which is collecting unemployment checks.

  2. Of course, "RETARD" was his cutting edge accomplishment. As the main bullet point on his CV, Polakow - Suransky will have to kiss up to Walcott so that they can work together as a team deploying "Amplify" wherever Michelle Rhee has contacts inside the school district.

  3. I would guess Ms. Farina needs to know where some of the bodies are buried-figuratively speaking of course.

If this dude was a complete tool under the prior regime- why not be a tool for Mayor DeB....until his usefulness expires...

  4. ...or he resigns ...what bout all those emails that Trish James wants turned over...? Could it be possible that Heir P.S. sent some messages he'd like to take back at this time? Orwellian nightmare I'd call it...

  5. Shael taught in the system for years and certainly can reclaim his teaching license and show everyone how it's done.

  6. What a great idea, Norm. I would like to see Herr PS conferring with one student in a class of 32 or so, while the other 31 children are actively engaged in independent activity.

  7. I don't think Heir PS has a long shelf life.
