More Evidence Cuomo Campaign Is Running Scared

They're moving early to try and smear opponent Rob Astorino as a right wing fringe candidate/bigot:

Rob Astorino must have Andrew Cuomo more worried than we thought. How else to explain two just-released attack ads suggesting the Republican is a bigot?

One is called “Contempt.” It describes Astorino as the only county executive found “in violation of anti-discrimination laws.” The other, called “Die Hard,” plows the same ground but quotes The New York Times: “Die-hard resistance to civil-rights laws didn’t work out for the South half-a-century ago, and it won’t work now.”

Both conclude with the same kicker: “Rob Astorino, so far right, he’s wrong for New York.” Which echoes Cuomo’s earlier declaration that some people have no place in New York — and reflects his preference for labeling opponents “extremists” so he doesn’t have to debate his record.

Astorino responded with a strong pushback:

Once again, we see why the Cuomo campaign was worried about Astorino.

Say what you will about Astorino's policies if you're a progressive on the left - you have to admit, he's running a pretty good campaign so far against Darth Cuomo.

Cuomo wanted Crazy Carl Paladino or The Donald running against him because he knew that would be an easy win.

These early attack ads from the Cuomo campaign, along with desperate moves like this one, show you that the Cuomo people see a tougher re-election trajectory than they wanted.

  1. I love Astorino's response: firm, level-headed, reasoned and in HIS face!

    1. Oops, realized the video disappeared, but it's back now. Yeah, Astorino knows how to push back against Cuomo, defending himself while also going on the attack without coming across as a lunatic. That's why Cuomo wanted Crazy Carl instead...

    1. Yes, Astorino is one savvy operator. Cuomo got a pass last time against Crazy Carl, but this time he's up against a real opponent, one who is not afraid to go right at him.
