Cuomo Says People Under Ebola Quarantine Should Read His Book

Governor Narcissist returns to his favorite subject - himself:

Gov. Cuomo downplayed the burden of following the mandatory 21 day quarantine he ordered for returning Ebola health workers - and joked they should pick up his new book as a way to pass the time.

"I'm asking those people who were in contact with infected people - stay at home for 21 days. We will pay. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your kids. Enjoy your friends,” Cuomo said. “Read a book. Read my book. You don't have to read my book. But stay at home for 21 days.”

Yeah, he was joking about reading his book.

The part that seems like a joke but isn't is this:

He's quarantining people who have had contact with people who have contracted Ebola but allowing family and friends to come and go to see the potentially-infected quarantee.

Doesn't that kinda undercut the whole effectiveness part of the quarantine?

Doesn't this seem not just another half-assed Cuomo policy, ill-conceived, ill-thought out, ill-carried out?

He says he's staying the race for you, dear New Yorker:

When I decided to run for mayor this year I knew it would be tough. I knew that the mistakes of my personal life would make things difficult for me and for my family. From the very beginning, some people insisted that I shouldn’t even be allowed to run.

I believe that question should be left to the voters. This fight is too important to leave New Yorkers without a choice. And I want to give them the power to decide who their Mayor will be.

I have waged a campaign focused on fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it there. I published a book of 64 ideas on everything from lowering taxes on New York families to creating the first ever single-payer health care plan for our city. Day after day, I’ve visited citizens who have been hungry for a voice after years of feeling marginalized or ignored.

New Yorkers responded in resounding ways. They volunteered for our campaign. They submitted their own ideas. They made thousands of small donations. And they showed up on street corners, subway stations and community centers to say hello or give me a piece of their mind.

Now, with 47 days left until the primary, some powerful voices are making it clear that they still don’t want me to run. Yesterday’s news has given them fresh fodder.
I owe it to you to try to explain.

Sending these embarrassing messages to women online, whom I never met, was a personal failing that was hurtful to my wife and a part of my life that Huma and I have put behind us. These things I did, as you have read in the papers, didn’t happen once. It was a terrible mistake that I unfortunately returned to during a rough time in our marriage. After a lot of reflection, some professional help, and a general reorientation of my life, Huma has given me a second chance. I will never stop being grateful for that.
Before and after announcing my run for Mayor, I repeatedly answered every question about these mistakes. I was clear that these relationships took place over an extended period of time with more than one person. I regret not saying explicitly when these exchanges happened.

But the bottom line is that the “news” today is about my past life.

Some people may find my personal life reason not to listen to me. I completely understand that some may not ever even consider voting for me. But I’m going to keep trying to bring them around and earn their support. This fight is too important to give up, because I’ve had embarrassing personal things become public.

This campaign isn’t about me. It’s about a great city that is beginning to lose its mantle as the Capital of the Middle Class. It’s about the challenge of finding affordable housing, a good job with benefits and a public school that attracts the greatest teachers and produces the smartest kids. This race for Mayor isn’t about me. It’s about you. And I’ll never lose sight of that.

New Yorkers don’t quit, and I’ll never quit on you.

One of the most narcissistic politicians on the planet, a guy who has no core political values other than his own self-aggrandizement and career advancement, is staying in the mayor's race after a recent set of sexting photos and texts surface and expose him as a liar because "This race for Mayor isn’t about me. It’s about you."

Oh, and the news about the sexting isn't about "today" - it's about his "past" life.

You know, like April, when he last contacted his sexting partner.

Weiner truly is a delusional, pathological man living in a fantasy world.

God help us all if he were actually elected mayor.

Bloomberg Obsessed With His "Legacy"

The NY Post reports that the city has fast tracked some real estate development projects that it wants completed before Bloomberg leaves office and is ignoring every other project or putting them on hold.

The Post says the fast tracking is called a "legacy list" and has been developed by former deputy mayor, now current Bloomberg LP employee, Dan Doctoroff.

Here is the rationale behind the so-called "legacy list":

As top aides work on shaping Bloomberg’s legacy, one description they want is a pro-development mayor who drastically altered the landscape in each borough to expand gleaming office space, boost the high-tech industry here and ratchet up tourism numbers.

Some critics of the projects say the mayor needs to slow down and make sure these things are workable:

The controversial Midtown East rezoning plan would allow the construction of large office buildings near Grand Central.

City Councilman Dan Garodnick (D-Manhattan), whose district includes the proposed expansion, wrote a letter asking the administration to slow down the project in order to review potential problems.

“I understand that the mayor’s term has only 502 days remaining, but that should not be the prime factor for such an important proposal,” Garodnick wrote in August to City Planning Chairwoman Amanda Burden. “There is no reason to move at this pace.”

The plan was unveiled in July before Community Board 5’s Land Use and Zoning Committee and would alter zoning regulations to allow for more skyscrapers from around East 39th to East 57th streets between Second and Fifth avenues.

Everywhere you look, this mayor has sold out city neighborhoods to real estate developers.

I used to live in Long Island City but moved 8 years ago.

The LIC I knew is gone, replaced by Bloomberg's "gleaming" steel condos (actually given how they're built, better described as paper mache and spit condos.)

The 7 train, which back in my day was an absolute nightmare during the rush hour, is a lot worse these days.

You see, the one thing our pro-development mayor didn't develop is new ways of getting in to the city even as he was developing new residential neighborhoods as part of his legacy.

Bloomberg is not the only politician to do this, of course.

The same thing is happening in Jersey City and other areas of Hudson County - lots of new real estate development, but little to no new infrastructure to support that development.

But Bloomberg is the most proud of his "legacy," the most obsessed with it, and just as the Bloomberg Blizzard of 2010 is part of his legacy, and the ho-hum response to Superstorm Sandy is part of it, and CityTime and the failed 911 system, so is the real estate development that has happened without the infrastructure support following it.

Bloomberg really is a pathetic little man, with his need to emblazon his name on everything he owns and garner as much attention as he possibly can.

One wonders just what damage was done to him as a child that he needs all this attention and is so obsessed with his "legacy".

Perhaps it would soothe his eventual journey into the other world if, on the day our Little Mayor is on his deathbed, city residents applaud him for his "legacy" and change the name of New York City to BlOOMBURG.

It seems only then will Bloomberg be truly happy and know that his "legacy" is forever.
