If Class Size Doesn't Matter...

...than I guess Geoffrey Canada will be raising class sizes at his Harlem Children's Zone schools from 15 to 38?

Just saying.

  1. Oh wow am I glad you bought up that scam artist Geoffrey Canada. I know someone who tried to sub there. The working conditions were abominable. The children were out of control; kids who had "art" were "allowed" to go to gym instead and shoot some hoops. This was the high school division, mind you. My friend told them they'd never come back again, thank you very much. So much for Geoffrey with a G Canada being the great educator. He's not great at all, nor is he an educator.

  2. Kathleen,

Yeah, he really is full of a shit. With Geoffrey, it's ALWAYS about Geoffrey. He's superman. Except of course he isn't. He's a corporate sell-out who takes money from Goldman and other corporate raiders and predators, pays himself handsomely (and who knows what his expense account looks like) and aggrandizes himself with all those media appearances. Then he has the nerve to say class size doesn't matter when he keeps class sizes at 15, thanks to the hedge fundie largesse he gets.

  3. Perdido, it's Katheeeee, by the way, not Kathleen!! Yes, Harlem Children's Zone is, unfortunately, looking more and more like a money laundering operation and less and less like a charter school whose main concern is bettering the lives of the children who attend. Class size is the bottom line, and it's not debatable. That makes the difference, but hedge funders of course wield their big sticks far too much and too often in our society. What occurred with health care, where care and maintenance of our bodies was bought and sold, is now happening with our minds...how and what they think is being controlled not by educators but by oligarchic corrupt financial scammmers like Canada. Are these the "interesting times" that the Chinese saying warned us about?

  4. Sorry Katheee! My eyes are going from grading all those papers and tests!

I think I'm going to do a piece about Mr. Canada and all his financial scams. I've been putting some things together for it and will work on it over Thanksgiving. Michael Fiorillo has pointed out some problems with Canada as well:
