Let The Obama Administration Know What You Think Of Their Plans To Raise Class Sizes All Across This Country

The Obama administration, through a speech given by Arne Duncan to his fellow right wingers at the American Enterprise Institute, told school districts to use the financial crisis to "leverage transformational change" and increase class sizes and lower teacher pay by putting an end to salary step increases.

The Obama administration suggests if teachers want a salary increase, they should either raise test scores or teach larger classes.

How's that for change we can believe in?

I don't remember Obama saying that as part of the 2008 campaign, and yet that's what his administration is saying now.

Larger class sizes, lower pay for teachers (make no mistake, having to teach classes of 45 students to get a salary increase IS lower pay) - that's the 21st century education policy they're promoting.

You should let the White House know exactly what you think about this.

Contact link is here.

They're already hearing a bunch of criticism from the House and Senate Dems.

Let's add union members and teachers to that list.

Let them know that if they continue with the wingnut policies that the AEI likes that screw teachers, students and schools, they better hope the wingnuts at the AEI vote for them, because teachers and union members won't be.

  2. Let's also demand that President Accountability and Dunkin Duncan send their own kids to a "turned around" school in D.C. OK, if public schools are not good for Obama's darling kids, then how about charters, which Prez Accountability praised as "innovation"? And Dunkin D couldn't genuflect & drool enough at the altar of Goddess Rhee. So why doesn't he send his kids to D.C schools?

  3. Is Amy Carter the last child of a DC pol to attend a DC public school? I think she is. And that was 30-34 years ago.

Yeah, these people would NEVER send their kids to public schools, not Duncan, not Obama, not Bloomberg, not Klein, not Black, not Cuomo.

Rhee did send her kids to public school if memory serves me correctly. Of course she also had the principal of her kid's school whacked, so dunno if that was so good.
