Horror Show

Teacher wrongly accused of sexual abuse of a student, evidence so flimsy that the jury deliberated just 47 minutes before returning a not guilty verdict and one juror visibly wept during closing arguments, the lead detective was found to have fabricated statements in another molestation case that was later dismissed - but the Virginia school district refuses to pay for this teacher's legal bills as required by law, the district has placed a set of guidelines on him that are designed to give them the opportunity to fire him, they "de-staffed" him and forced to apply for other jobs in the district and the police have not been made to pay for their shoddy investigative work.

Awful.

But in the day and age when "Bad Bad Teacher" is daily tossed at teachers and business and political leaders all across the country talk about teachers as if they are criminals, you can see how this could happen.

POSTSCRIPT: Perhaps I ought to note the irony of my public sympathy for the teacher falsely accused of molestation and my post last night declaring IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, accused of sexually assaulting a maid, an awful human being.

Duly noted - I am naturally sympathetic to teachers while anybody who works for the IMF is a criminal already in my opinion.

That said, Dominique Strauss-Kahn is innocent until proven guilty in a trial by law.

The police claim they have DNA evidence tying him to the crime, but police claim all sorts of things, as we saw in the Lanigan case detailed in the Post.

So let me retract the statement I made about Dominique Strauss-Kahn being a horrible human being because of the alleged sexual assault.

He is a horrible human being for working for the IMF - I'll reserve judgment on the sexual assault allegations until the trial is finished.
