I Think I Found My Candidate For President

Can't vote for the drone bomb dropping, American citizen assassinating, Surveillance State expanding Barack Obama for a whole host of reasons - from his continuation of the Bush policies in the WoT to his bailouts of the Big Banks and his refusal to hold any banker or Wall Street executive accountable for the '08 collapse.

Mostly I can't vote for him because of his education policies - his teacher bashing, his charter school promoting, his teacher evaluations tied to tests policies.

But I can't vote for Mitt Romney either.

So who do I vote for?

The Daily News has the answer:

WASHINGTON - Roseanne Barr said Thursday she's running for the Green Party's presidential nomination - and it's no joke.

The actress-comedian said in a statement that she's a longtime supporter of the party and looks forward to working with people who share her values. She said the two major parties aren't serving the American people.

"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants -- bought and paid for by the 1% -- who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," Barr said.

...

Barr said she has been fighting for working-class families and women for decades.

"I will barnstorm American living rooms," she said in a candidate questionnaire submitted to the Green Party. "Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election."

While she hasn't filled in details of her platform just yet, I have to say her policies appeal to me a lot more than Barack Obama's corporatism.

More Barr here.

  1. I thought Mayor Bilderberg cares about air quality-NYC grunts can't do THIS...and they can't do THAT-under penalty of the law. YET. he's got his private Super Bowl jet all tuned up and ready to go, with five other 1 %ers. What is the carbon imprint per passenger on something like THAT!

  2. I thought Green Party was going with Jill Stein. But I will probably vote for whomever is on their line. I have to suppose Roseanne would actually draw more votes.

  3. Thanks. I was at a loss about what to do. Was facing the same dilemma as you--as odious as the Republicans are, I just can't vote for Obama--not even holding my nose.

  4. I just got an email from the AFT: Randi Weingarten and the UFT just announced their endorsement of Obama. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, but still...
