Weiner Afraid Hecklers Will Ruin His Mayoral Announcement

Which is why he's doing it on video instead:

Anthony Weiner is expected to announce his jump into the mayor’s race in a video, rather than in person, sources familiar with his thinking told the Daily News.

The candidate-in-waiting and his wife were spotted Thursday working with a video crew on the stoop of his boyhood home in Brooklyn.

The campaign kickoff, via video, is expected next week.

“A video is an easy, focused and safe option, opposed to an event rollout where not every single thing can be controlled,” said one ally.
“You only need one thing to go wrong — a person smirking, a passerby shouting something off-message —‘Hey, can I text this?’ — and then your rollout is remembered for that.”

Weiner, who tanked his career in a sexting scandal and subsequent coverup attempt, has some experience with unwanted cameos at his events.

Case in point: As he departed a teary June 2011 news conference at which he admitted sending a bulging-briefs snapshot to a woman other than his wife, a Howard Stern staffer jumped up from the press section, demanding to know if Weiner was "fully erect" in the image or was "capable of more."
The same staffer, Benjy Bronk, also shouted over Weiner as he addressed the press on the day of his resignation, asking the humiliated lawmaker about his genitalia and whether would maintain his "hot physique." Bronk later said he wasn't the same heckler who yelled "Bye bye, pervert!" at Weiner during the same event.

Gotta love that he can't even hold a live event to announce his mayoral bid because he's worried Howard Stern will send somebody to ask him embarrassing questions like was he "fully erect" in the Twitter image or was he "capable of more."

Oh yeah - this Weiner 2013 campaign is going to go far.

If Weiner can't hold a live event to announce his mayoral bid, what makes him think he can hold any live events that won't draw Howard Stern staffers or others looking to mock or humiliate him?
