Cuomo's Approval Falls To 50%-49%

Little Andy continues to fall and fall in approval - he's at 50%-49% for his job performance in the latest Siena poll.

This is the lowest of his tenure as governor.

His favorability rating and his re-election rating are also at their lowest points.

For the fourth consecutive month, and just the fourth time ever, more people think he is doing a poor job as governor than a good job as governor.

According to the Siena poll, Cuomo's fall in popularity comes from Democrats jumping off the Cuomo bandwagon, not Republicans or independents running from him.

That's an interesting thing.

Little Andy is facing an election in a year and five months.

If his job performance and favorability rating trajectory continues, he may be underwater when gets there.

Republicans who used to support him aren't coming back after his gun law.

Some anti-abortion Catholics who used to support him are probably not coming back after his abortion law.

So he needs Dems and liberals back on the Cuomo bandwagon to give him a comfortable win in November 2014.

Anything less than a comfortable re-election win in November 2014 hurts his chances for a White House run in 2016.

The takeaway from this poll: Cuomo is not a popular governor anymore, he is weakened, and, with the fracking decision still on the horizon, he is going to lose more support once he comes down on the issue one way or the other.

  1. Have to admit I am enjoying Prince Andrew's slow motion train wreck of a governorship. We need neo liberals to fail the way he and King Rahmbo are both doing on a big stage. Their anti union anti worker odium and their slavish devotion to the interests of the 1% are plain dor all to see. They can ride their 1%ers right into the popularity poll basement.

    1. Me too, Sean. I want to see him become a very unpopular governor with scandals all around him. I think we may get that in the second term.
