Governor Cuomo Backs John King, Echoes Commissioner By Saying "Change Is Hard"

Sheriff Andy has a lot on his plate these days, with the legislature in almost full rebellion over the Moreland Commission subpoenas, his casino proposal facing trouble, and both pro-and anti-fracking groups wondering just when Hamlet on the Hudson Jr. is going to make a decision on fracking - but that didn't stop him from publicly backing embattled NYSED Commissioner King:

As to whether he thinks SED Commissioner John King should step down, he said, no adding that’s not his decision to make since the Regents, who choose a commissioner, are elected by lawmakers. He offered a defense of the new teacher evaluation program that has created a controversy, saying that “change is hard.”

That "change is hard" boilerplate is the same thing NYSED Commissioner King said when defending his education reform agenda.

Not a surprise that Cuomo is backing King and the SED/Regents agenda, but it's good we have a public declaration of support anyway.

Just remember when people call for King's resignation that the agenda King is imposing on the state is Regents Chancellor Tisch's and Governor Cuomo's too.

    1. I say, dig into his donors and impeach him after all his criminal activity is unearthed.

    1. Alas, newly elected pols are subject to the same whoredom as incumbents. The system itself is corrupt and rotten to the core.

    1. He will have a more difficult re-election this time around. Repubs are pissed over the gun thing, so he's lost that constituency, and I doubt tax cuts will bring all of them back. He's win re-election, but his numbers won't be like the last time. And he's worried about that, because Christie looks like he's going to win re-election by a large margin. Cuomo is worried about that comparison too.
