Why is Cuomo Hiding?

For a guy who's running for re-election, we see an awful lot of this on his schedule:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is in New York City with no public schedule.

It's a little more than 5 months to election day and he is the incumbent with a large campaign war chest and a wide lead in the polls now that the Working Families Party has endorsed him and pledged not to run a candidate against him.

So it's not like he has to be running an energetic public re-election campaign just yet.

Nonetheless, I notice ever since the first of the year that there are an awful lot of days when Cuomo is just unseen and unheard from in public.

Anybody have any idea why he's hiding?

Or maybe the better question is, anybody have any idea what he's hiding from?

  1. It's always been his M.O. to avoid situations where he might be questioned and he appears in the media only when he has to or when he's in the position to crow about something. I'm sure this guardedness is intensified by the business with the WFP.

  2. Maybe, just maybe, he's meeting with the hedgies. They are his favorite, no, the only constituents that count for him.
