Cuomo Says Teachers Unions Are Most Powerful Political Force In The State

From State of Politics:

As he pushes back against the caricature that he’s anti-teacher, Cuomo also called the state’s teachers union one of the most politically potent forces in the state that is resistant to change.

“You know the strongest political force in the state of New York? The teacher’s union,” Cuomo said.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

If you're a regular reader of any of the education blogs on the Perdido Street School blogroll, you know how absurd that statement is.

Just as Cuomo conveniently forgets his own donors and money when he talks ethics reforms these days, putting all the need for reform on the legislature while ignoring the executive branch, he's conveniently forgetting just how powerful and potent the charter lobby and their hedge fundie donors are.

So powerful, they got a governor to arrange a rally for them.

  3. I think Preet Bharara is the most powerful agent of political change.

Why did Cuomo write a check for $100,000 to his criminal lawyer?
