NY Times Reports Dean Skelos And Son Are Targets Of Federal Investigation

Rumors have been swirling for months now that State Senate Majority Leader is a target of the feds.

The NY Times reports tonight that is so:

Federal prosecutors have begun presenting evidence to a grand jury considering a case against the leader of the New York State Senate, Dean G. Skelos of Long Island, and his son, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Investigators have served a number of subpoenas in recent weeks, including several to state senators on Long Island, and federal prosecutors have interviewed people who have had dealings with Adam Skelos, the senator’s son.

News of the investigation follows the arrest this year of Assemblyman Sheldon Silver, and his resignation as speaker; any criminal case against Senator Skelos, the majority leader, would throw the Capitol into further tumult.

Prosecutors and the F.B.I. have focused on at least two areas in their investigation of Senator Skelos and his son, zeroing in on the younger man’s business dealings, according to several people with knowledge of the matter.

WNBC 4 reported Skelos was under fed scrutiny back in January, the NY Post independently confirmed that report.

Skelos scoffed at the WNBC report through a spokesperson, saying it was thinly sourced.

Bet he's not scoffing anymore.

More later.

  1. Well, Dean Skelos rammed through the Senate the bill the decimates the public teaching profession, strips us of some rights and puts all of our jobs at risk. In other words, he is a creep. Guess who is his right hand man? Senate Education Committee Chairman John J. Flanagan, Jr. Both of these man attended the charter school rally in Albany last month.

  3. Too bad for us that the law F'ing us passed weeks ago. Arrests like this now have 0 interest for me. If I can't use it in a 3020A hearing, it's no longer a thing. Don't get me wrong It's great to see, but it's not Cuomo. And won't be.
