Rob Astorino Calls On NYSED To Release The Data On Opt-Outs

The merry education reformers at NYSED love their data.

Rob Astorino calls on them to release some:

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino this afternoon will call on the state Department of Education to release statistics on how many students are refusing to take the current round of state tests.
Astorino, the Republican candidate for governor last year, announced on Tuesday that he was opting his children out of this week’s standardized tests on English Language Arts.

NYSED wants to minimize the damage from the opt-out tsunami as best they can, so we're hearing mostly crickets out of SED and the governor's office on this.

They can't wait to release the number of "failing" schools or teachers who are "ineffective."

Gee, can't imagine why they're not too excited to release the opt-out statistics.

You can bet they'd be chomping at the bit to release them if the number of opt-outs was less than had been expected.
