Andrew Cuomo Continues To Cash In On His Memoir

From the Associated Press:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has already made more than $500,000 on his recently published memoir and now a recently filed financial disclosure suggests he can expect at least $150,000 more.

The disclosure, filed Friday with the state, shows the Democratic governor expects to make between $150,000 and $250,000 this year off the book. The memoir, entitled "All Things Possible: Setbacks and Success in Politics and Life," was published by HarperCollins last fall.

Cuomo's tax returns show he earned just under $377,000 for the book. The year before he made an $188,000 advance.

Cuomo's taxes also showed he made nearly $169,000 as governor and had some modest income from investments.

Cuomo's book is currently ranked 645,459 at Amazon.

As of April, there were just a little over 3,000 copies sold - and 13 audiobooks.

$377,000 + $188,000 + 150,000 - 3,000+ books sold  = a bribe from Rupert Murdoch.

  1. How does this math even work out...outside of joke-math/ass-numbers...???

Really though, how is this even explainable? The book sold (lets be generous) 3500 copies. Lets say its $30.00 per book. Thats $105,000 ALL UP...GROSS EARNINGS!

Now, outside of selling the rights for a movie deal, the numbers cited here are wildly outside the realm of reason...$500,000, $377,000, $188,000....all these numbers have 0 grounding.
He didn't even sell enough copies to cover the advance!!! Don't you have to pay back the advance money when you don't sell enough to cover it?

Do I have this all wrong?? Granted in some cases publishers really push to grab an author and throw money at them...but really, Andrew Cuomo doesn't rate that kind of money from the publishing industry (and I'm not saying that as a card-carrying Cuomo-hater, which I am...but from reality...Cuomo is NOT a politician anybody is itching to find out all about. He doesnt have celebrity politician pull.

How is he justifying this money? Basic math says the book made a little over $100K GROSS. A total loser for the publisher if they gave him around a $180K advance. But really though.....was he just given money in handfuls?

Whats the quid pro quo here?
The NYTimes ignores alot of the stink around him for free....as do most outlets.

    This is weird, no?
