How Does NYSED Explain Sheri Lederman's VAM Scores?

Sheri Lederman is suing the state over her VAM.

In 2012-2013, she received 14 out of 20 on her VAM score as part of the APPR teacher evaluation system rating.

In 2013-2014, she received a 1 out of 20 on her VAM score as part of the APPR teacher evaluation system rating despite having test score results very similar to the previous year.

And for 2014-2015?

For those of you scoring at home, the tend is 14 to 1 to 11.

All in the space of three years.

And Cuomo calls this system "scientific" and "objective."

The judge in the Lederman case is expected to have a decision either this month or next.

  1. I would hate to be too cynical, but isn't it possible that the NYSED is trying to throw a wrench in the Lederman trial by giving her a Highly Effective rating?
