Dash And Bash Cathie Black

The negative coverage of incoming NYC Schoosl Chancellor Cathie Black continues at the Daily News:

Incoming chancellor Cathie Black may not be getting an in-depth look at education from her quick visits to city schools, officials at her latest stop said.

During 45 minutes at Medgar Evers College Preparatory School in Crown Heights, principal Michael Wiltshire said he didn't have time to tell Black how important it is for the city to shift its focus away from test prep.

"They're not talking about the total education of the child. They're talking about test prep. We're not into that," he added. "She needs to hear this more. I think the focus is wrong."

Black visited three classes after chatting with students, parents and staff. It was her 12th school visit.

Asked about the speedy stop, Black promised more in-depth visits in the future when schools least expect it.

"I will come popping into schools without anybody knowing that I'm coming, because that will really give me the chance to sit with a teacher or a principal, listen in on classrooms, you know, not in an atmosphere exactly like this," she said
.
Oh, please - you don't care what a teacher or a principal has to say.

You only care what Boss Bloomberg has to say.

And what the Boss says is "More Testing, More Accountability For Teachers!" - so that's what you are going to give us, Ms. Black.

I'm glad to hear a principal call you on this.

I'm also glad to hear him say that the focus of the DOE leadership is wrongheaded.

You need to hear it.

I am also glad to see the Daily News publish that story.

They've really been nailing you since the beginning Ms. Black.

Even the photo they used of you isn't too becoming.

Is it just me or do you always look vaguely hungover?

  1. Perdido Street, you just articulated what I couldn't quite put my finger on....this girl has that one-too-many-on-the-cocktail-party-circuit look. I can't identify with that look right off the bat since I do other circuits, such as the plan-for-the-teaching-week-over-a-glass-of-wine-on-a-Sunday-night circuit.

  2. I think she really does have that look. Klein looked like a vampire who drank other people's blood for sustenance. Black looks like a serious juicer.
