Why Doesn't Bill Gates Just Stick To Fixing His Own Garbage Products?

As I wrote earlier, I have been offline for almost a whole day, so I missed the NY Times article this morning that details the work Bill Gates is doing to make sure teachers are evaluated and held accountable for their performances.

The reason I have been offline is because Windows Vista sucks big time.

I have already detailed the nightmares I have had with the Vista system.

I bought a Windows 7 64 bit computer today and have been having oh so much fun dealing with the compatibility issues between a 64 bit computer system and the FLAC program (a music compressor.)

Frankly, why doesn't Gates, the Gates Foundation and Microsoft make some products that are less buggy than an Amish country road on farmer's market day?

Seriously, I know I keep saying this, and maybe it's my fault for not buying Apple or better yet, just becoming a Luddite and getting out of the whole computer business completely, but where does this arrogant rich prick (and his fellow travelers in the media and government) come off telling teachers how to teach and declaring teachers need to be held to rigorous accountability standards when they cannot make a freaking operating system that works right?

I wish somebody in the media would say this to him.

Hey, Bill, Windows sucks! Why should we listen to you about teacher evaluations when your own products are so awful?

  1. Then he would have to write about how Steve Jobs sucks. Let's stick with Gates for now...and yes, Vista sucks bigtime! Keep the posts rolling at Perdido.

  2. NYC, I know, I know - but I've tried Mac and I just can't get with them. Plus Steve Jobs sucks and is an ed deformer too. Of course, no one seems to be bigger than Gates these days, but...

Sigh. Maybe I'll go back to the days of an abacus and a typewriter...

  3. Gates the monopoly capitalist screws up Windows big time. Then he decides to apply his charm to the US education system.

Funny how Gates blabbers about merit, accountability, competition etc. In a real capitalist system with competition, Windows would have been flushed deep into the toilet . Sigh.....

  4. I don't know - I have never been a teacher. But this sounds creepy. Big Brother watching teachers? Seems to me the equivalent of groping/body scan - almost. And Obama/Hillary whines about Wikileaks ?

Any idea about the names involved in this crap? And I wonder if Gates foundation invests in Teachscape? Gates promotes GE seeds/crops while investing in Monsanto.

  5. The Gates/Monsanto connection is really hypocritical. It bothers me to no end that no one calls him on this shit when the media is feted the Gates Foundation about all the charity stuff they do.

Nothing charitable about either the ed reform stuff which privileges data-driven education (using Microsoft products, of course) or his food programs that enrich himself via his investment in Monsanto.

    Truly an evil, evil man.

  6. I've got a suggestion for a new operating system for Gates. It's called MYOB 1.1

  7. Windows 98
    Windows Vista
    Windows 7
These products share a common quality.....THEY SUCK!!! How has Gates gotten away with making such unstable browsers? By diverting attention of consumers away from his shitty products and towards the "failing" education system with its faulty but human teachers. Thanks for enlightening us with your insights into his shady connections and Gates' general disregard for humanity.
