Message To Tisch, King, Walcott And Shael

You say you know test scores will drop significantly this year because of the new Common Core test difficulty.

You say that the drop in scores will be due to the "new baseline" that will be used to measure "college and career readiness," that we shouldn't see these scores as evidence that students are learning less and schools are getting worse.

But you're still going to use the test scores to fire teachers and close schools.

New baseline for measurement of students, but still going to use those scores for APPR and school closures.

No wonder teachers don't trust the people in power and no wonder teachers are suspicious of the real agenda behind Common Core, which seems to be to raise the bar dramatically without providing the supports and resources necessary to reach that bar, then use the Common Core results to bludgeon teachers, close schools and privatize the system.

No wonder we think this whole thing is rigged to drive the corporate/privatization agenda, but couched in the language of "caring about the kids."
