I read through the New York Magazine cover story on Cuomo.
If you haven't read it, you should.
What I took from the story is this:
Cuomo is arrogant, vindictive, paranoid, and friendless.
He is obsessed with himself and being number one at everything.
So far, his hard-charging politics, manipulative style and bullying temperament have served him well as governor.
They may become a liability in the second part of this term as the issues get more difficult to deal with (like fracking.)
And they may be a serious liability if he tries to run for president.
I know that the LBJ/Cuomo comparison from the article got played a lot in the media today.
I found the Nixon/Cuomo comparison from the article the more compelling and accurate one.
The takeaway is, Cuomo has no friends, people hate working with him and for him.
While he's riding high, those aren't a problem.
But as soon as he isn't, they become a big problem.
Just ask Anthony Weiner about that.
When Weiner's scandal broke, his fellow pols ran from him like he was Typhoid Anthony.
No one wanted to defend him.
Cuomo found something similar back after the Carl McCall mess.
And he may find something similar in the future too.
All in all, the New York article is not one I would want to use in the press guide if I were Cuomo.
