The criticism of Michelle Rhee, Arnie Duncan, Rahm Emanuel, Andrew Cuomo, Barack Obama and other education deformers is not that they send their kids to private schools where their kids enjoy small classes, a wide curriculum, individual attention from teachers, art and music education, class trips, teachers who are not evaluated by test scores, and education geared toward the whole child.
The criticism of Michelle Rhee, Arnie Duncan, Rahm Emanuel, Andrew Cuomo, Barack Obama and other education deformers is that they send their kids to private schools where they enjoy all of those things even as Michelle Rhee, Arnie Duncan, Rahm Emanuel, Andrew Cuomo, Barack Obama and other education deformers push for large class sizes, a narrow curriculum consisting mostly of test prep, art and music education replaced by test prep, class trips replaced by test prep, teachers evaluated by test scores and education geared only to standardized testing for the Other People's Children (OPC).
It's the hypocrisy - what's good for the Rhee kids, the Duncan kids, the Emanuel kids, the Cuomo kids, and the Obama kids is not good enough for any of the kids who attend public schools.
It's nice to see these families bringing inspiration to schools and communities to launch more music school for children.
