Please understand that the synonym for a hot dog is W-I-E-N-E-R - not W-E-I-N-E-R. The former stems from the name for the city of Vienna, from whence hot dogs originated.
"Weiner" is correctly pronounced with a long "I" - not a long "E". Sorry, Anthony, but you and your parents have been mispronouncing your name all these years, perhaps the result of a misinformed American encountered by your ancestors when they came over on the boat. Thanks to you, everyone is now misspelling "wiener" and mispronouncing "Weiner."
Take it from me,
Danielle Weiner Weiner (Yes - I married a Weiner so I consider myself a bit of an expert on this)
