Civic Consulting Alliance role in Chicago schl closings & charter expansion; now working w/de Blasio transition team http://t.co/jOzzb5IIWt

Dunno if it's coincidence or not, but Eva Moskowitz has gotten a bit quiet lately about de Blasio.
One wonders if Civic Consulting Alliance helping to run things behind the scenes hasn't assuaged some of her concerns.
None of this is much of a surprise.
Bill de Blasio is a politician who made his bones in the Clinton administration.
This jive about de Blasio's election being the dawn of a new progressive era and de Blasio driving Cuomo and Obama to the left - it's pure fantasy.
No politician that came of age in the Clinton administration, is friends with Andrew Cuomo and Rahm Emanuel and happily (and secretly) uses Bloomberg-funded consulting groups to run their transition teams is going to be anything other than another destructive neo-liberal.
Perhaps so, but there are still people like the public advocate James who will be watching and acting if DeBlasio thinks he can play two ends against the middle he will serve one term. The big picture will be seen how he handles the public schools. We shall see,
ReplyDeleteWatch her change with the wind also. That's what all Democrats seem to be doing lately!!
DeleteI agree that all Dems have to be watched - even Tish James. They are politicians, after all, and subject to pressure, especially from the moneyed classes.
DeleteI have a feeling things are not going to go well with dB. I supported him from day one because of his stance on education. But he is easily swayed. Wish he had told Rahm to F-off!! This is why I no longer want to be a registered Democrat.
ReplyDeleteNope - he and Rahm are buddies and BdB called Rahm a "Great Mayor" and a "model" for how to run a city.
DeleteRegardless if De Blasio agrees with Rahm Emanuel or not, he still needs to respect the mayor of Chicago (and also the second largest city in the country). It would NOT be in De Blasio's best interest to tell Rahm Emanuel (especially with his temperament) to say "F#%k off to him" . That is pretty low class and extremely condescending. The man has not taken office yet and he is already going to start being disrespectful. He chewed out Joe Lhota for calling TSA agents 'mallrats' and Bloomberg 'an idiot' (which is actually pretty funny).
DeleteHuh? No one said he should tell Emanuel to go @#$% himself. We're saying he shouldn't be using a consultant group w/ connections to Emanuel and the ed deformer industry that was suggested by Emanuel. Also he shouldn't call Emanuel a "great mayor" (which few outside the Emanuel family would call him) or say he is a "model" for governing. Given the mess he has made of the CPS system, Rahm is a model for what NOT to do.
DeleteHey, I am just a middle class, common folk person (former NYC teacher who was discontinued by a a crazy principal) who was just invited to De Blasio's inauguration open house at Gracie Mansion in January....regardless of who he talks to possibly takes advice from, he just can not be Bloomberg for the next 6 months. If he starts acting like Bloomberg, we are all in trouble.
DeleteAnd In regards to the "F$%k off" comment, I was referring to the anonymous comment before yorus, RBE".
As we should have already painfully taken note of, currntly, there seems to be scant room for integrity in government or in much else for that matter.
ReplyDeleteThat cheesecake rendezvous with Obama, along with a tete a tete with Rahm, was the unfolding.
Neo-Liberals speak out of one side of their mouth for the little guy, their nominal constituency, and the other side of their mouth for the plutocracy, their real constituency.
After Obama, I don't trust any of these guys. What little faith I had in the system was destroyed by Change We Can Believe In.

ReplyDeleteSurely Bloomberg is planning to offer the same type of plutocratic bootstrapping for cities around the world that he has fostered in NYC. The same great kind of assistance now working BDB's shadow transition team. This is how Bloomberg et al plan to spread the malignant oligarchy far beyond our shores.
Saw it and had blogged something on it to go up in the morning:
