Rudy Giuliani Declares Himself The Savior Of Black People

I've already posted how former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani blamed teachers for police shooting black people, saying cops wouldn't need to kill black people if the teachers would just accept charter schools, vouchers and merit pay (no seriously - he said it.)

That wasn't the only ridiculous thing he's said recently.

There was also this:

“If you look at my eight years in office, I saved more black lives than any mayor in the history of the city,” Mr. Giuliani claimed.

Just in case you're thinking maybe he misspoke, well, this is the second time he's said this:

'I probably saved more black lives in this city than any mayor in the history of New York City, with the possible exception of Mike Bloomberg, who was there for 12 years,' he said.

That's some assertion by Saint Rudy of 9/11 - it goes quite well with blaming teachers for tragedies like the Eric Garner case.

If we'd just accept charters, vouchers and merit pay, Saint Rudy of 9/11 would be able to save even more black people from the evils of the teachers!

And Rudy Giuliani is like a Black Moses.

Makes sense, I guess, what with Isaac Hayes being dead and Rudy Giuliani being an asshole and all.

  1. His comments were in response to folks suggesting his anti-crime policies were bad for black people.

    1. Yes, but even given the context, they strike me as ridiculously self-aggrandizing.

  2. Rudy also blames teachers for the chaos and confusion that pervaded the New York City rescue efforts on 9/11. Who else would he blame?

    1. That's right - if there'd been merit pay and charters, those towers never would've come down. And don't get me started on World Trade 7 and vouchers...

  3. Rudy is telling the truth. By reinforcing the racial divide, he helped to make sure that fewer blacks would be hired at the white collar firms like Cantor Fitzgerald that made up most of the victims of the attack, thus saving countless black lives.

  7. You'd have to be Catholic to understand. Rudy did some good here-AND is a native New Yorker. You'd have to understand that as well.

  8. Considering the state of NYC when he took over vs the state of NYC when he departed I can understand how he might be proud of his accomplishments. I remember believing NYC would continue to slide downwards forever. His manner and his political affiliation might be off-putting for some (who isn't?) but give the guy his due. He also thinks both the Garner and Ferguson episodes have very little to do with race and I suspect that is the majority view in the country.

  9. To be all "piss and dung" about it, even Manhattan was a swirling shit bowl. Visitors stayed away due to unsafe streets and subways, etc. Even the super wealthy gentry wouldnt spend time in their mansions here-only flying in and out to do business. Another decade or two of that, and you have Detroit. "The residents of the.so called outer boroughs, didnt even THINK about going out at night since their.areas were.crime infested hell holes in many cases. Mayor G. Is second only to Lagaurdia in overall significance in the lives of New Yorkers. He also deserves to defend his record.

    1. I went out plenty in the early nineties. It was not so bad. Crime started coming down when David Dinkins was mayor. Try to remember the Safe City Safe Streets program. Rudy G is out of his mind.
