I decided to wake up at my usual time rather than 5 AM to find out if schools were open or not. I looked out my window, saw people walking in the middle of the street rather than on sidewalks. But the snow had stopped falling. I thought, I bet schools are open.
Sure enough - schools are open.
I guess Park Avenue was plowed and Bloomberg figured everybody could get to work without a problem.
I hope he and Black are ready to do substitute coverages today.
ReplyDeleteI'm out today. I used to go in and get stuck with 45 new kids in a class all day. No hero business for me now. Anyhow, he declared a Weather Emergency asking cars to stay off the road. Commuter trains are on a weekend schedule.

ReplyDeleteA tip of the cap to all the men and women from all the various public agencies who worked really hard overnight to have the city in outstanding functional working order for this morning's commute. The decision to keep schools open wasn't even remotely questionable or controversial -- not unless you have an agenda to grind.
Rod, I showed your comment to one of my colleagues who commutes into midtown from upper Dutchess County. His reaction was pretty funny, but before I type it in verbatim, I need to ask "RBE" if it's okay to curse in the comments section.
