City Councilman Charles Barron starts with a threat. “If you try to turn off my mike, I’m going to come and take yours so don’t even think about it,” he said to cheers from the audience. He went on: “Not a single school should be closed. The Department of Education has failed these schools. You didn’t give them the support they needed.”
DOE officials are signaling the end of Barron’s two-minute comment period, but he’s refusing to cede the mike. “No, I’m not finished. I’m going to wrap it up with this,” he says. “We know what’s going on here. We’re going to scream at them all night and then they’re going to vote on every proposal there.” Then a bit of a non-sequitur: “If this system can hire Cathie Black, who’s not even qualified to teach in the classroom, then we should not allow them to shut our schools down.”
The anger aimed at Bloomberg, Black and the DOE braintrust is really ratcheting up lately.
Good to see.
These people are venomous and deserving of nothing but contempt.
I'll add Klein, Mistress Eva and the DFER's to the list.
Gates too.
Oh, and Duncan.
And Obama.
Can't forget Obama.
All execrable people.
