Chris Christie Gets Desperate, Attacks David Wildstein For "Deceptive Behavior" In High School

Chris Christie tried to undercut David Wildstein's credibility today in an email to supporters and campaign donors, but some of the points raised make Christie look desperate:

In David Wildstein's past, people and newspaper accounts have described him as "tumultuous" and someone who "made moves that were not productive."

As a 16 year old kid, he sued over a local school board election.

He was publicly accused by his high school social studies teacher of deceptive behavior.

He had a controversial tenure as Mayor of Livingston

He was an anonymous blogger known as Wally Edge

He had a strange habit of registering web addresses for other people's names without telling them

Let's take these points one at a time, in reverse:

Wildstein was a political operative - he wouldn't be the first to register web addresses for other people's names without telling them.  That's what political operatives do - try and register web addresses of opponents, then use those addresses to get out damaging information about the opponent.  Nothing to see here.

Wildstein isn't the only anonymous blogger in political circles and some people behind the scenes did know who he was.  Again, I don't think there's much to see here.

Wildstein was a controversial mayor of Livingston? So the hell what? Christie has been a controversial freeholder, a controversial Bush-bundler, a controversial US attorney, and a controversial governor.  If being "controversial" were a crime, Chris Christie would be serving a life sentence at Gitmo - again, nothing to see here.

He was publicly accused by his high school social studies teacher of deceptive behavior?  Are you freaking kidding me?  Chris Christie, governor of New Jersey, just pushed backed against former crony David Wildstein in a game of chicken by calling Wildstein on that time his high school teacher accused him of cheating or plagiarism or something like that?  How freaking lame is that charge?  Seriously nothing to see here.

Last one - Wildstein sued over a local school board election.  Again, not sure why Christie feels the need to go all the way back to high school to go after Wildstein, but it just raises more questions about Christie himself than it does about Wildstein.  I don't think anybody cares why Wildstein sued a local school board as a 16 year old, but I bet people will wonder why Christie feels the need to raise this issue in his pushback against Wildstein.

This email to supporters and donors is really, really lame and smacks of Christie's desperation.

You have to think, after seeing this email, that Christie knows he is going down and is flailing away, throwing everything he has at Wildstein.

He cheated in high school!

He sued in high school!

He copied someone's homework in high school and passed it off as his own work!

He's a freak!

None of this plays in Christie's favor.

It simply indicates to me Wildstein has the goods on Christie, Christie knows it and knows there's little he can do now to save himself.

  1. Someone should turn this on Christie, asking, "With all the negatives surrounding this guy why would you bring him into your governmental operation." You are right the big guy if 'flailing around in desperation."

    1. Yes, that too. The email does less to rally supporters and more to increase doubts in people's minds.

  2. Christie is going down, as has been obvious from day one. Rather than owning up to it like a man, he is going to entertain us over the coming months with a slo-mo version. Sort of like Eddie Murphy's classic imitation of his aunt falling down the back steps of her house and Christie's performance will probably be just as entertaining.

    1. Yes, I think so too. This all has the feel of somebody who is desperately trying to keep the inevitable from happening.
