Quinnipiac Poll: Obama Worst President Since WWII

Heckuva job, Barry;

A new Quinnipiac poll finds President Obama is the worst president since World War II.

Key findings: 33% of American voters say Obama is the worst while another 28% pick George W. Bush

Congratulations, dude  - you've beaten out George W., the man who brought us the Katrina response and the Iraq war mess, as worst president since WWII.

That's a heckuva accomplishment.

  1. Same poll also thought Reagan was the best. These people have no sense of history. And now many of them are putting down FDR as a "welfare" president.

    1. It's true, these kind of Best/Worst polling results are often contradictory or inexplicable. Nonetheless the trajectory for Obama is the point here - it's squarely negative. And yes, it's true that presidents can "bounce back" in polls later on as memories fade and mythology takes over - but right now hes going down as a shitty president.

    2. Even though I voted for him twice, 2nd time cursing, I am glad he is getting such a bad review. While I would have put GWB before Obama, this man has done more to raise the Tea Party in this country. He should have focused on the economy his first year in office instead of Obamacare, and what he and Duncan have done to public ed is criminal IMHO.

  2. Interesting factoid on a slow news day. All this does is confirm that Obama has a "job approval" rating in the low 40s and that he is in the middle of a period of impossible-to-manage" foreign policy crises that came on him after the failure-to-launch of the ACA website in the middle of a toxic political environment last seen, perhaps, in the 1850s in the run-up to the Civil War. The only way it would be more than a factoid might be if we knew how other post war presidents were ranked by the public at the same point in their presidencies. It usually takes 10-15 years for the public, and for historians, to begin to put presidents into some stable frame of relationship to other presidents. I can assure you that in July 1950 Harry Truman would have been ranked by the public down with James Buchanan and Millard Fillmore. So, momentarily interesting, and good for a snarky blog post, but ultimately, pointless.

    1. In poll after poll, George W went down as "worst president," "biggest failure," etc for the last six years.

Now Barry has eclipsed him as the biggest failure.

The trajectory of the polling is not meaningless and I assure you, Congressioanl Dems running for re-election are not unaware of the polling trajectory.

There's a reason why the NY delegation wants Clinton campaigning for them and not Obama:

    2. All I'm saying is that Obama is not worse than W. I don't doubt that many Senators don't want to be seen with the man but neither did Senators want to be seen with Lyndon Johnson, or JImmy Carter or W. when they were down. You're trying to make a polemical point out of a factoid. That's all I'm saying.

  3. I feel that Obama betrayed us. He could have done great things when he started out because he had the majority of the American people behind him--hope and change and all that. Then he broke most of the promises he made on the campaign trail in 2008. Yes, I know the Republicans were obstructionists, but he could have fought for the right things a lot harder than he did. And I think it will be a long time before people trust any politician again.

  5. Very sad that this site has taken to cheering against President Obama while citing opinion pieces from The Cato Institute.

    1. I voted for him twice, 2nd time cringing, but I have to agree if was not ready for this job. That said, he is better than GW, but anyone would have been better. Obama's true legacy, IMHO, was he was the man solely responsible for the Tea Party overtaking over government. He and Axelrod laughed off the TP during the firs midterm elections. Talk about not having your finger on the pulse. And it is for this and his attack on public ed that I truly regret my vote.

  6. Obama is very amateurish president. That is the Clintonian assessment. He is also very stubbornly arrogant. In his small brain, he thinks that anyone who criticizes him must be a racist.

    He is a weak administrator.
Mismanagement after mismanagement are his legacy. The roll out of Obamacare. the IRS scandal, the VA mess just to mention the screwups of the recent past. But the biggest problem is his fundamental dishonesty. Obama says one thing to the public and does the opposite to help gain credibility with the plutocrats. His education policy is all about gaining for himself with Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg, the Wall Street Hedge fund crowd. He is a close ally with Penny Pritzker, another mega plutocrat. The TRUTH is that OBAMA is a shill for the Plutocrats that are wrecking the Democratic institutions in the USA ! Ignore Obama's deceptive rhetoric. It is about hope until it isn't about hope. It is really about despair for millions of Americans. God Bless America. You must elect legitimate leaders if you are to move forward.

  7. Even more sad is the fact that Obama is no friend to teachers or public school students.

Race to the Top, my arse.
