I will say it again. Andrew Cuomo is a much greater danger to teachers and public education than Time Magazine

That's why Randi Weingarten takes on TIME over an anti-teacher cover while giving Andrew Cuomo a pass for saying the public school system is a "monopoly" he plans to "break" in his next term.
The TIME cover, while not innocuous, certainly doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot in the grand scheme of things.
It's the not first anti-teacher cover they've run.
It probably won't be the last.
And I'm not sure outside the already anti-teacher Beltway circle how much influence the thing will have anyway.
Cuomo's promise to break public schools is a serious threat and one a labor leader for a teachers union ought to be pushing back against rather than defending.
But that's AFT President Randi Weingarten for you.
There's never a windmill she won't fight and a real battle with a deformer she won't run from (or worse, aid in.)
Can't recall the last time I agreed with the old firedawg but this one is such a slamdunk I think the Hatfields would even see the logic in the McCoys stance on it. Nobody runs from a battle to cop a headline like the President of the AFT Randi Weingarten. And don't even get me started on that island of misfit toys we're calling the NYSUT leadership team. Christ on a bike.
ReplyDeleteWhat good are advocates who will not recognize attacks on those the advocate on behalf of? What good are leaders who will not lead? Cuomo is a paper tiger when you stand up to the bully--he feasts on weakness in others. Zephyr Teachout stood up to him with minimal resources yet Weingartner and Magee kneel in front of the man. Pathetic
