Governor Cuomo On The Take

Capital Confidential:

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has filed its six-month report with the Board of Elections, which is due today. The raw numbers:
Opening Balance: $27,811,546.11
Total Receipts: $7,019,967.87
Total Expenses: $1,507,972.95
Total On Hand (End of Period): $33,323,541.03
Whomp! By way of comparison, consider Cuomo’s previous five January filings:
  • 2009: $5.6 million
  • 2010: $16.1 million
  • 2011: $4.2 million
  • 2012: $14.4 million
  • 2013: $22.5 million
This means that Cuomo has raised more in the past 12 months (about $300,000 more) than he’s raised at any point in his political career.

Capital Confidential notes the following:

To which I said:

It's a joke when Cuomo points fingers at the Legislature in Albany for corruption - this guy's raking in the bucks from the real estate industry, the gambling industry, the education reform industry and giving them their preferred policies in return.

  1. $10,000 from NYSUT via Exec VP/Mulgrew hack Andy Pallotta on 11/21.

    1. Yup - they're covering their bases. I have a piece about the UFT and Andy going up at 10 AM that explores that same issue.

    2. Excellent... looking forward to reading it. He (and likely Mulgrew) are running the @ReviveNYSUT account. Everything sounds great on the surface until you realize who is behind it. If they want to change course from the direction they have taken in the last few years I am all for it. But keeping Pallotta in charge of legislation and Vote Cope money while replacing the rest of the NYSUT officers with other Unity hacks is far from the change I would desire. The opposition slate running for NYSUT offices is like Obama running for change in 08... they'll just sell us out in new and different ways. If people want to really prove that they want to change NYSUT from the Rank & File up they would not seek the Unity endorsement when they run.

  2. Democracy for sale in New York State!!

  3. It ain't democracy. It's called facism. Neo-liberal style.

    1. I absolutely agree with your statement and have mentioned the velvet glove style fascism practiced in this country and this state on this blog in the past.
