Long Island NYSUT Members Will Protest Cuomo

Cuomo's vulnerable these days, so it's good to see the protests against him from teachers pick up steam:

Long Island public school members of New York State United Teachers are planning a protest when Gov. Andrew Cuomo headlines the Suffolk Democratic dinner April 28.

Richard Schaffer, Suffolk Democratic chairman, confirmed last week that union officials informed the party they will not be taking a $3,000 table as originally planned for the fundraiser at Villa Lombardi in Holbrook.

The plans for the protest arose after Connetquot union president Tony Felicio spoke out at the union’s state convention a week ago saying “not only is it important to send a loud and clear message to Cuomo, but it is just as important to send a loud and clear message to Cuomo’s political supporters who will be in attendance on the 28th.”

He warned the “2 percent tax cap...is going to ultimately kill public education” and candidates “need to know you’re either with us or against us...period.”

Richard Schaffer, Suffolk Democratic chairman, said union members have a right to protest. “It’s a way to express themselves,” he said, adding. “I’m glad for the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce that we will be attracting extra people to Main Street businesses.”

No votes for Andy, no votes for Andy, no votes for Andy...

Believe me, that's a message Cuomo's going to hear loud and clear these days.

With the vulnerable Cuomo meeting WFP leaders at his campaign headquarters to insist that they endorse him for re-election, you know he's worried about every vote.
