When we still had to go in those two days before Labor Day, my school made us sit thru a 3-hour presentation by a consultant. After about 30 minutes, the science teacher sitting behind me offered me $5 if I would poke her in the eye with a nail. Unfortunately, PD money is one of those earmarked funds - spend it on PD or lose it. The teacher sitting next to me leaned over and whispered, damn, why doesn't she take her per-session fee and leave us the hell alone? I stared back at him and said, per session? You think this woman is making $40 an hour? More like FOUR HUNDRED.
And the DOE wants to lay off teachers to save money.
such a waste of time...I would prefer to use that time to fix my classroom, grade papers, plan lessons...
ReplyDeleteDarn....in our district PD always means "payday." Sorry....
