Yesterday his PAC successfully got somebody out of a race:
Illinois state Sen. Toi Hutchinson (D) is expected to drop out of the 2nd congressional district special Democratic primary and back former state Rep. Robin Kelly (D) in the contest to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The move shakes up the Democratic field just nine days before the Feb. 26 primary election.
Capitol Fax: "The reasons are many, including Mayor Bloomberg's decision to point his massive super PAC right at Hutchinson while backing rival Robin Kelly."
Bloomberg has attacked Hutchinson for her support for the National Rifle Association.
Regardless of how you feel about the NRA or gun control, you've got to be dismayed that Bloomberg the Billionaire can drop millions into a race and swing it the way he wants.
He is going to do this with education issues as well.
He already has by tossing $1.1 million on the pro-deform side in an L.A. school board race.
You can imagine how much he plans to throw into Congressional and Senate races to elect pro-deform candidates.
We have always lived in a fake democracy that gives you the illusion that you have a say in the governing of the country.
But lately, even that illusion is disappearing.
This is an oligarchy and the voice you have in how the country is run is directly proportional to how much money you have.
Oligarchy First.
Yes, instead of a dictatorship run by a particularly charismatic or bloodthirsty leader, we have a managed electoral dictatorship, where the population and electorate is distracted by sideshows. Meanwhile, ruling class consensus (with so-called education reform a perfect example) dominates the terms of debate and policy.
