You can't make this stuff up.
Idaho state Sen. John Goedde (R), chairman of the Education Committee, introduced legislation to require every Idaho high school student to read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged and pass a test on it to graduate from high school, the Spokane Spokesman-Review reports.
In the comments, one person writes:
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
Read all about Ayn Rand's version of the perfect man, William Edward Hickman, a sociopath who kidnapped and murdered a 12 year old girl and shoved her head and torso wrapped in blankets out of a car in front of her father who'd just paid him a ransom. Funny Paul Ryan the Rmoney Running mate is ahuge Ayn Rand fan but somehow he failed to mention his favorite authors rolde model and ideal man. http://murderpedia.org/male.H/h/hickman-william.htm
