De Blasio Calls Rahm Emanuel A "Great Mayor," Vows To Work Closely With Him

In case you missed this quote from earlier in the day:

De Blasio was coy on his transition plans, but did say that a meeting last week with Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel had been helpful.

"I won't go into detail, I'll say I think he's one of the great mayors of this country and obviously as having been the chief of staff at the White House and having played a key role in President Obama's transition into office, he had a lot to say that was very, very helpful and I look forward to working very closely with him," he said.

How "progressive" is de Blasio if he thinks Emanuel is a "great mayor"?

Will de Blasio run the school system the way Emanuel runs it in Chicago?

Will de Blasio have a similarly antagonistic relationship with the unions?

This statement from de Blasio is troubling.

Very, very troubling.

More later - after the coronation.

  1. I voted for him today, but nit with enthusiasm. That seems to be happening a lot lately. Hopefully Springer won't allow any reform contracts to go ahead.

We'll find out soon enough, whether it is just spin, because they know each other, a copy or just being the party loyalist. Since union deals are going to be one of the first issues.

    1. James just put a DFER on her transition team.

The same DFER that worked for de Blasio as deputy public advocate.
