Obama To Make A Surprise Announcement

Sounds like Bin Laden is dead.

CONFIRMED: Obama to say Osama has been killed.

NBC says they have a body.

I remember when they got Saddam and how everything got better in Iraq after that.

I'm sure that'll happen in the WoT now that they got Osama bin Laden too.

UPDATE: Listening to MSNBC, they're calling this a "great victory" in the "global war on terror," a "breath-taking event" that signals "a new era" in the Mideast.

Color me cynical, but they said the same thing about Iraq after Saddam's arrest, trial and execution.

I hope I'm wrong, but...

SECOND UPDATE: Brian Williams calls this the most significant day since 9/11.

Oy.

How many people killed or wounded since 9/11 in this "global war on terror"?

How many American troops killed or wounded since 9/11?

How many attempted terrorist attacks?

Lots, actually.

And now you can bet that the plans for retaliatory attacks start in earnest to praise the great martyr.

Listen, it's fantastic that this evil man is dead.

Seriously, it is.

But I just don't think this is the "game changer" they're calling it on TV.

Again, hope I'm wrong.

But I think as long as the U.S. policies remains the same in the Mideast, the terrorists are going to continue to spring up there and still try to attack here.

  1. Barring future cataclysmic events, which of course are possible, welcome to your next president of the United States. Obama is a shoe-in.

  2. I don't think so. The election is a year-and-half away, a political eternity, and the big issue will be the economy, as it is now.

Obama is a failure, and he will not be re-elected. He needs to be primaried.

  3. Bush 1 won a war a year and a half before his re-election bid in 1992, but the economy wasn't doing so well and people didn't feel confidence in where it was going and Ross Perot was running too and Clinton beat him.

Not saying Obama is going to be in trouble in a year and a half, but stranger things have happened.
